How many days until my exams?

It depends on your board and your subjects. GCSE and A-level written papers usually start in the first full week of May and run into late June, while the South African matric finals begin in late October. The only exact answer is your own timetable, which is why it is worth putting every paper into an app that counts each one down individually.

Why there is no single number

Exam dates are set per board, per subject and per year. Two people in the same year group at the same school can have papers three weeks apart. So "how many days until exams" has as many answers as there are timetables.

What is stable is the shape of the year:

GCSEs and A-levels (UK): written papers run from early May to late June.
National 5s and Highers (Scotland): late April into early June.
The Leaving Certificate (Ireland): a fortnight from the first week of June.
Matric finals (South Africa): late October into November, after prelims in August and September.
AP exams (US): two weeks from the first Monday of May.

Get the real dates

Your school or exam board publishes the timetable, usually a term ahead. Once you have it, put every paper in with its date and its start time. The time is what turns a rough day count into something useful in the final 24 hours.
