Add a widget to your Home Screen

Put a countdown on your Home Screen or Lock Screen, and choose which exam it follows.

Adding one takes about fifteen seconds.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Touch and hold an empty part of your Home Screen until the icons jiggle.
  2. Tap Edit, then Add Widget (on older versions of iOS, the + at the top left).
  3. Search for Exam Countdown.
  4. Swipe between the sizes, pick one, and tap Add Widget.
  5. Tap Done.

Android

  1. Touch and hold an empty part of your Home Screen.
  2. Tap Widgets.
  3. Find Exam Countdown in the list.
  4. Touch and hold the size you want, then drag it into place.

Exact wording varies a little between phone makers, but every Android launcher puts widgets behind a long press on the Home Screen.

Choose which exam it shows

The Next Exam widget needs no setup. It always follows whichever paper is closest.

For Countdown and Category Countdown, touch and hold the widget, tap Edit Widget, then tap the exam or category name to pick a different one.

Lock Screen (iPhone and iPad)

  1. Touch and hold your Lock Screen, then tap Customise.
  2. Tap the Lock Screen image, then the area under the clock.
  3. Choose Exam Countdown and pick a widget.
  4. Tap Done.

If it does not appear

See Widget not appearing or showing blank.
